<p>As the first netbook with the Nvidia ION and Geforce 9400M graphics the Mini 311 looked like it could be the fastest netbook yet released.</p>
<p>Well we can confirm that it does score very well in the standard PC Mark 05 and 3D Mark 06 tests:</p>
<p><span id="more-120"></span></p>

<table id="wp-table-reloaded-id-4-no-1" class="wp-table-reloaded wp-table-reloaded-id-4">
<thead>
	<tr class="row-1 odd">
		<th class="column-1"></th><th class="column-2">HP Mini 311</th><th class="column-3">EEE PC 1005HA-P</th>
	</tr>
</thead>
<tbody>
	<tr class="row-2 even">
		<td class="column-1">PC Mark 05</td><td class="column-2">1917</td><td class="column-3">1605</td>
	</tr>
	<tr class="row-3 odd">
		<td class="column-1">3D Mark 06</td><td class="column-2">1386</td><td class="column-3">126</td>
	</tr>
</tbody>
</table>

<p>As you can see it clearly beats the previous number one netbook, the ASUS EEE PC 1005HA-P, by a healthy margin in both tests. The 3D performance is greatly increased showing the clear advantage the 9400M has over the Intel GMA950 GPU.</p>
<p>What does this mean for real world performance? The ION based netbook should be more capable of some light 3D gaming as the dedicated GPU will take the bulk of 3D processing. Older and less graphic intensive games like World of Warcraft and Counterstrike should be playable on medium settings.</p>
<p>Video encoding will also benefit with Laptopmag noting that the Mini 311 was 5 times faster than the average netbook in this regard. The also said that it was playing 1080p trailers from the iTunes store with &#8216;acceptable&#8217; performance.</p>
<p>Any software not making use of the GPU will still remain poor however. In this regard we are referring to high definition flash video which as a CPU intensive process will still be choppy and unwatchable.</p>

<p>Unfortunately our backups have been lost so we are going to be re-writing each article from scratch so bare with us while we get the content back up.</p>
